Not sure what a milk frother is? Only the best invention for latte drinkers in the world! Yes I said world! I mean it.
I am in love with this thing! It is battery operated and comes with a convenient case that is plastic and washable. I got this little gem from my sister. Every time I go over to her house I have her make me some sort of coffee, latte, steamed milk drink thingy. And every time, out comes the "frother". Nothing is better than a nice layer of froth on top of a hazelnut latte. Yummy. So far I have used it every day. Hazelnut and vanilla lattes. Vanilla Creme, like from Starbucks. Oh yeah I'm taking on Starbucks baby!
I don't know about you, but paying $3.95 everyday starts to add up. Lets do the math. There are 365 days in a year. If you go every day, for a year, and grab a french vanilla latte you are spending $368.95. That is a car payment, or 9 tanks of gas for a mid size suv, or 52 eleven ounce bags of ground coffee.
I'm just saying.
Here is a recipe that is easy peasy to make and super yummy.
Hazelnut Latte
1 cup of milk heated in the microwave
2 tablespoons of hazelnut syrup
1/4 cup double strong coffee
So here is how you do it.
Brew the coffee. I use the same amount of coffee grounds for a regular pot of coffee but use 1/2 the water. Please note that I have a 5 cup coffee maker and only brew enough for 2 cups since no one else in my house that drinks coffee. Next take a measuring cup, I recommend at least a 2 cup size, and measure out 3/4 to 1 cup of milk. I use 3/4 cause I like mine a little stronger. Put in the microwave and heat it up. About 45 to a minute, depending on your microwave, will do. After the coffee is done brewing pour it into your favorite mug along with the 2 tablespoons of syrup. I usually through this into the microwave and zap it for about 35 seconds just to heat it up a little bit more. I'm a take a sip, set it down, do something and come back in a few minutes to get another sip kind of girl so my coffee tends to get cold quick. Set aside. Once the milk is done take your nifty Areolatte milk frother and put it in the milk and whisk away. Do it for about 20 seconds. If you like your froth thicker do it longer, but for me, about 20 seconds does the trick. Now it is time to merge these 2 wonderful creations together. Pour the milk over the coffee. I like to take a spoon and hold back the froth so that all the milk makes it's way into the coffee. Then scoop the froth on top. I then like to top it off with a pinch of pure cane crystal sugar. I don't know if I do it for taste or just an extra jab in Starbucks face.
I now pronounce them man and wife.
